Goals of Therapy

My goal as a therapist is to create a supportive environment in which my clients can explore their emotional concerns and overcome barriers that limit their potential. I utilize a strength based approach and client centered interventions. I further consider the client's culture/ethnicity, spirituality, work life, personal experiences, and gender.

During my professional career I have successfully treated individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents.
I utilize an integrated multi-modal treatment approach that is rooted in evidence-based psychotherapy such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and family systems. I realize that selecting a psychotherapist is a personal choice, therefore, if I can be of assistance during this process, please feel free to contact me for a consultation.

Individual, Couples & Family Therapy

This therapeutic process involves the family as a whole. It tends to view change in terms of the systems interaction between family members. Family therapy emphasizes family relationships as an important factor in psychological health and wellbeing.

Alcohol and Drug Addiction / Dual Diagnosis

Dual diagnosis is a medical term used to describe a drug or alcohol addiction that is coupled with a mental illness. Dual diagnosis is a treatable condition and research has demonstrated that the most efficient approach is to treat dual diagnosis by addressing the chemical dependency and the emotional/psychological illness concurrently.

CISD-Critical Incident Stress Debriefing

CISD is a program developed with the intention of intervening with those exposed to trauma before allowing traumatic symptoms to fester over time. The basic tenet of CISD is that proper intervention may reduce the onset of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) symptoms such as anxiety, re-occurring nightmares and depression.

Neurobiological Disorders (Mental Illness)

Neurobiological disorders of thought, mood, perception, orientation or memory, which grossly impairs judgment, behavior, capacity to recognize reality, or ability to meet the ordinary demands of life. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, psychotic conditions not otherwise specified, bipolar disorder and severe depressive disorders.
